Christmas-feel-good Cookies

Next week, I'll be off to meet some of the best food bloggers at an event organized by Vanessa Kimbell and Fortnum & Mason :  Let's Make Christmas Gift Swap.
The event will take place in the beautiful building of Fortnum & Mason, on Picadilly Street. I heard it's one of the oldest shopping center in London.

Vanessa Kimbell is a food blogger, journalist,  BBC Radio presenter for "the Kitchen Garden Show" and author of Prepped (a book that I warmly recommend to you!). She realized that food bloggers don't often get the chance to meet up so she decided to organized something that, I think, will be epic : a gift swap for the upcoming Christmas! A food gift swap of course!

The idea : we (50 food bloggers) are going to this special event next week, bearing homemade gifts.  At the end of the event we'll pick out a ticket (as many tickets as we may have bring gifts!! ) and leave with the gift correlating. It's like a raffle and we will leave with someone else’s gifts.
And because Vanessa like a challenge, she add a competition to all this : we just need to blog about our gift to enter a "second" competition, that will see Dan Lepard choosing 5 lucky winners in 5 different categories as "Best Preserve", "Best Baked Good", "Best Sweets", "Best Drink" and "Overall best gift"

Exciting isn't it?

So, we no further ado, here's my participation for the "Baked goods" categorie : "Christmas-feels-good Cookies" !
Full of nuts and fruits, these are great with a cuppa!

Ingredients :
  • 250g flour
  • 1 tsp bicarbonate of soda
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 100g oatmeal
  • 100g light brown soft unrefined cane sugar
  • 100g caster sugar
  • 200g chocolate chunks
  • 100g mixed nuts & raisins
  • 125g soft unsalted butter
  • 1 egg

      1) Preheat the oven at 180°C.
      2) Line 2 baking sheets with baking parchment.
          3) In a big bowl, mix together all the ingredients with a wooden spoon.
          4) Form dough balls, the size of a ping-pong ball.
          5) Place them on the baking sheets and flatten them a little.
          6) Bake for 13min.

Don't worry if they don't really look cooked enough. They will harden when cooling.

I hope the person who will end up with these cookies next week will enjoy them...
      Please let me know !!!

      7. I made these cookies today for a Christmas afternoon party and they were a huge success !
But I probably got it wrong somewhere because I had to add quite alot of butter in order to make the dough. It was more like a crumble at first.

      8. Hi Delphine! No need to add more butter. They are a bit crumbly but you need to knead the dough a bit before forming the cookies on the baking sheets.
Glad you were successful with them!
