Tales of Korea #2 : Visit to Samneung Park

In busy/speed/stressful Seoul, you can find places where time stops. Where noise disappears and you can finally find yourself listening to nothing but the chit-chat of the magpies and enjoy the scenery.

One of the places I especially like is Samneung Park (삼룽공원), where you can see the Royal Tombs of King Seongjong and his wife Queen Jeonghyeon, and their son King Jungjong.
Might sound a bit creepy but as soon as you'll see the pictures below, you'll understand it's not at all.

During the Joseon dynasty, deceased Korean royalties were buried in grass mounds. Over the centuries, the royal gravesites have been preserved and looked after with great care. They are even inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List since 2009. A late recognition for this world treasure.
